The NER is a publicly accessible register managed by Engineers Australia that recognizes qualified professional engineers, engineering technologists, and engineering associates who meet high standards of practice and ethics.

It is legally mandatory in states like Queensland (RPEQ), Victoria, and New South Wales for engineers to be registered on the NER or equivalent state registers to perform professional services independently.

You must submit a current CV/Resume, a Work Experience Statement detailing your engineering responsibilities, a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) log, and contact details of two professional referees.

To remain on the NER, you must complete a minimum of 150 hours of relevant CPD over a rolling three-year period and maintain professional indemnity insurance if practicing independently.
