Worried about IChemE Competence and Commitment (C&C) report? Here are a few tips to go through!
To become Chartered through IChemE, you need to go through IChemE Competence and Commitment (C&C) report. We at MYCDRHELP provide the best and premium experts to complete your C&C report along with the Professional review report and IPD with the assurance of guaranteed success. There are 3 stages that are below:
Stage 1: Educational Base:
Stage 1 is the necessary underpinning knowledge and understanding. The requirement is either the required accredited qualifications or the successful completion of an Individual Case Procedure (ICP).
Accredited qualifications offer exemption from a complete assessment of your knowledge and understanding, in recognition of your qualifications having already been evaluated by IChemE, or an accreditation body the authority recognizes as being at the level necessary for a Chartered Member.
Technical Biography:
The first ICP element is the submission of a Technical Biography (TB). You have to provide proof of your work-based learning and details of your academic qualifications, including transcripts and certified copies of certificates, all to prove how specified learning outcomes have been fulfilled.
Chartered Member Stage 2: Initial Professional Development:
Initial Professional Development (IPD) is the period of your career when you develop skills, knowledge, and understanding, and a professional attitude to be eligible as a Chartered Member. It can take place by means of structured graduate training schemes or it may be self-managed.
If you have not been through an IChemE ACTS, you have to go through an evaluation of your IPD. The IPD assessment not only fulfills the UK’s Engineering Council requirements for Chartered Engineer (CEng) registration but identifies any gaps in your experience to help you rectify them before applying for Stage 3 -Professional Review.
You have to record evidence against the attributes and get this proof reviewed by your mentor or line manager before its submission for assessment by IChemE.
Chartered Member:
Becoming a Chartered Member will allow you to demonstrate your professional competence and commitment to employers, regulators, policymakers and society.
Those elected to Chartered Member (MIChemE) are also awarded the title Chartered Chemical Engineer; the gold standard in chemical, biochemical and process engineering, which can only be attained through IChemE.
Chartered Member Stage 3: Professional Review:
After the fulfillment of the criteria for Stages 1 and 2 of the journey to professional registration, you become ready to commence Stage 3, the Professional Review, which is the last stage to becoming a Chartered Chemical Engineer. At the Professional Review stage, you demonstrate your competence and commitment to the occupation.
The Professional Review consists of two components:
A review of documentary evidence
An interview
Documentary evidence
The main component of the documentary proof is a Competence and Commitment (C&C) Report. The report includes the below-given sections:
Section A:
Evidence of using your knowledge and understanding in practical situations
Section B:
Evidence that you can handle the wider implications of your work as an engineer
Section C:
Evidence of your interpersonal, leadership and communication skills
Section D:
Evidence to show your commitment to high standards of professional and ethical conduct
Section E:
Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
For the preparation of your Competence and Commitment (C&C) report, download and complete the C&C report template and upload it to your application when applying formally. You will also be required to offer verification of the C&C report and appropriate references.
If you are applying for Chartered Member (MIChemE), you need to stress upon the competence and commitment (C&C) statement. This report is of empirical importance, for achieving the title of Chartered Engineer.
This report in fact helps to assess the competencies of applicants based on the contents of the report. There is a minimum level of competence required for a Chartered Member (MIChemE) and this competence would be assessed on the basis of C&C report. This is one of the highest levels of competence for an Engineer and hence, the report is scrutinised minutely by the assessors. Achieving the chartered membership is critical but this enhances the career path of the Engineers with the highest level of accreditation.
Your application should be composed of below things:
Referees:
2 referees are needed for the application process of Chartered membership. Criteria for choosing your referees:
CV:
Though the C&C report is enough for showing your competencies, yet there is a need of providing up to date CV for clearing up the background information. This will help the assessors to compare and contrast the C&C report with that of the CV information. The CV should have valid information as this information would be validated based on the C&C report. Technical aspects like the meetings attended, works done, technical jargons used in the C&C report, HAZOP undertaken and stated in the C&C report would be more clear with the information presented in the CV. you can present your CV with some little tweaks, which will differentiate your CV from a contemporary CV presented for a job interview.
Below are some ways in which a CV can be stylised:
The C&C report:
The C&C report should be able to show your competencies and therefore should be focused on your achievements. This should neither about any other person nor about any teamwork, but your personal contribution to any work. This report would be assessed by chartered members and fellow IChemE. Make sure to follow the guidelines for writing the C&C report. If your report seems to be missing on the guidelines, it will be rejected. Only, 2 chances are provided for resubmission, hence, be careful in this aspect.

Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE)is one of the most popular institutes with more than 37,000 students from over 100 countries worldwide. The institute was established in 1922 and was awarded with a Royal Charter in 1957.
We have offices in London, Wellington, Melbourne, Rugby, New Zealand, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.
The Chime has been licensed by the Engineering Council UK, which is bestowed with the responsibility of assessing candidates for inclusion on ECUK's list or register for professional engineers. This would in turn provide the candidates a status of incorporated Engineer and Chartered Engineer. Moreover, this would also provide the benefit of being engineering technician and incorporated Engineer. Additionally, the institute is also licensed by the Society for the Environment for grating a status of chartered Environmentalist. One of the prestigious things about this institute is that it is a member of European Federation of Chemical Engineering, with a valid chance of getting a degree in Chemical Engineering degree valid though 25 counties.
After becoming a Chartered member, you will be responsible for professional competence and commitment towards the employers, regulators, policy makers and society.
Chartered Members also get awarded with the title of Chartered Chemical Engineer. This is a gold standard in Process Engineering, Biochemical and chemical background and can only be gained through IChemE.
Chartered Members would also get access to all the resources available for them. But the accessibility is not limited to that, additional benefits are given below:
Below are the requirements for applying for Chartered membership
1.Knowledge and understanding
In order to get into this role, it is quintessential to show in depth knowledge and expertise about Core chemical engineering. Degrees with proper accreditation are acceptable, but be noted about the fact that fully-accredited by IChemE would be enough to enroll into the membership.
